Photography has always been more than a professional interest of mine. While traveling around the world for a year, or during deployments while I was an officer in the Navy, my photos provided a way to communicate to friends and family what I'd found in new places. As a social studies educator, I've taught students the power the camera has to share otherwise untold stories. And most recently, I've been drawn to communicating the stories and insights which can be captured in a well-made portrait. While portraiture can be the most challenging type of photography, I also find it to be the most rewarding.
